Description
In December 2020 Iridium launched their GMDSS service, the first time customers have had a choice other than Inmarsat.
Iridium has the advantage of 100% global coverage, a feature no other network can offer. The Thrane LT-3100S is the first terminal developed to work with this new service from Iridium. As well as the GMDSS capabilities of Distress Alert, Safety Voice, and Maritime Safety Information (MSI), voice, SMS, data and vessel tracking are also available making the LT-3100S a smart choice for the primary source of communication at sea.
The system comprises of a control unit, handset and compact maritime antenna. A single cable connects the control unit with the antenna and with a standard coaxial cable, up to 500m of separation between the units can be obtained. This enables the user to mount the antenna in the optimum position for clear line of sight to the Iridium satellites.
The LT-3100S GMDSS system is very easy to install and everything you need to get started is included in the box. The control unit can be installed using either a bracket mount or flush mount. The antenna unit can be mounted using either a pole mount (1.5″ tube) or angle bracket mount (1″ to 2.5″ tube).
