The world's smallest MOB (Man Overboard) device combining AIS & DSC. The Ocean Signal rescueME MOB1 sends your location to AIS equipped vessels upon inflation of lifejacket.
Ocean Signal MOB1 sends your location to any AIS equipped vessel within 5 miles notifying them that help is required. Install the rescueME MOB1 in your lifejacket and upon inflation the device will automatically activate - the first alert will be sent within 15 seconds of activation and will continue to transmit your location for up to 24 hours.
The world's smallest MOB (Man Overboard) device combining AIS and DSC* technology.
This device should only be used in situations of grave and imminent danger to life. False alerts endanger lives and cause expensive disruption to Search & Rescue services. Deliberate misuse of the device could result in a penalty.
Easily Integrated on Lifejacket
To take full advantage of the automatic activation, the MOB1 should be fully attached to the lifejacket. Instructions for lifejacket installation can be found in the Ocean Signal rescueME MOB1 User Manual below.
Activation
The Ocean Signal MOB1 can be activated automatically, upon inflation of a lifejacket, or manually by releassing the activation slide. This dual-activation option offers peace of mind that if the lifejacket fails to fully inflate, the MOB1 can still be easily activated manually.
Integrated DSC transmitter (digital selective calling)*
If your vessel has a DSC-enabled VHF radiotelephone, it is strongly recommended to programme your vessel's MMSI number into your MOB1. This will allow the MOB1 to send the details of the man overboard incident directly to the radio and sound the alarm.
AIS (Automatic Identification System)
This MOB1 AIS transmitter is only intended for short-range signalling to an AIS receiver installed onboard your own vessel. It will not directly alert the emergency services or any other vessels.
Strobe Light
The Ocean Signal MOB1 has a high-intensity strobe light and LED indicator. Upon activation, the strobe light will start flashing and the LED indicator flash eight times during AIS transmission and one long flash during DSC transmission. The colour of the flash will be Red during position acquisition and green when the GPS position is being received.
Battery Life
The Ocean Signal MOB1 has a storage battery life of up to 7 years! Upon activation, the MOB1 battery life will operate for a minimum of 24 hours.
Subscription Free
Unlike most satellite-enabled notification devices, the Ocean Signal MOB1 requires no monthly or annual subscription, making it a cost-effective option for long-term use. Whether you’re a commercial vessel, a fishing trawler or leisure craft, an AIS MOB device should be considered essential safety equipment for every member of the crew working on deck.
Compatibility
Most modern AIS plotters and DSC VHF comply with the standards required to receive MOB transmissions. It is however, especially if you are using older equipment, recommended that you check compatibility with the equipment manufacturer.
*The DSC functionality of the MOB1 is limited by regulations in each country. The list below indicates which functions you may expect.
