Communications for Emergency Situations
In any emergency, the internet backpack allows users to connect for e-mail or make emergency phone calls and even send text messages. Providing emergency communications is the core focus of the backpack and mission for ImCon (Immediate Connections).
In fact, this backpack has been tested at active volcano Mt. Nyiragongo (an 11,380-foot-high summit) to determine how well the Internet connectivity and off-grid emergency communications functioned. Various communication devices were taken along with the internet backpack, however all communication devices were unavailable expect to backpack which continued to communicate with other ImCon units.
