Inmarsat's Global Xpress network delivers seamless, high-speed broadband around the world, connecting everyone, everything, everywhere. Following the launch of the Inmarsat-5 F4, the GX constellation now comprises of four Ka-band, high-speed mobile broadband communications satellites.
Global Xpress
Global Xpress is the first high-speed broadband satellite network to span the world, with faster and more secure reliable connectivity. Inmarsat has introduced this one high-speed network and seamless global solution, to maximise connectivity combined with maximum mobillity, for their customers regardless of where they are. Moreover, the launch of the Global Xpress (GX) network is an important step for Inmarsat as they transform from a satellite operator to a digital services enabler.
By launching the Inmarsat-5 FX constellation, the I-5 satellites operate with a combination of 89 narrow spot beams to enable Inmarsat to deliver higher speeds through more compact terminals, plus 6 steerable beams so additional capacity can be directed in real-time to where it’s needed. With each I-5 satellite is expected to have a commercial life of 15 years, Inmarsat's $1.6billion investment has developed the most advanced Ka-band satellite service. It is the integration of Inmarsat's L-band network and operating in the resilient Ka-band, the GX network enables global connectivity.
Customers across aviation, maritime, enterprise and government sectors are able to have reliable and assured access to high-throughput communications:
Aviation
GX offers seamless connectivity to deliver high performance broadband at a lower cost to benefit all on board the aircraft. For crew members GX provides fast access to electronic flight bag, whilst the latest television, social media and on-demand entertainment is available for passangers to continue their digital habits onboard.
Enterprise
Global Xpress is able to enhance the safety and welfare for workers in the most remote regions, whilst drive operational efficiences. The GX network enables oil and gas, mining and construction companies to benefit from multiple broadband applications when in the field. Similarly, when in remote areas, Media users are now able to transmit HD and SD live videos whilst on location. Additionally, NGEO and Aid organisations are offered the connecitivity they need for emergency responses. This empowers them to set up long-term sustainable intiatives, such as mobile money, education and healthcare.
Government
For government users Global Xpress is transformational, as it seamlessly complements governments Ka-band networks. It offers cost-effective augmentation, when required and provides global mobility. The flexible connectivity is a service that can be managed effectivity and has steerable capacity uses to enhance mobility. Additionally, GX support government personal when conducting intensive mobile applications, by providing them with reliable broadband to complete tasks.
Maritime
Fleet Xpress is the Global Xpress service for maritime. This network has triggered a maritime revolution; bringing effeciency to all new levels through enhancing the seamlessness of real-time operations. The network delivers higher speeds through more compact terminals at a lower cost than existing VSAT services. In fact, the reliability of a high-width multimedia bandwidth applications enables ship operators and owners to enhance their business efficiency, from intelligence, enhance efficiency, performance and crew welfare. Therefore, Fleet Xpress offers an unprecedented level of availability, integrating seamlessly with the Inmarsat FleetBroadband network.
Global Xpress delivers communications that go further and faster.
