GTC works with Red Bull to provide tracking for "The Great British Swim"

On 1st June Adventurer Ross Edgley set off on "The Great British Swim", an attempt to become the first person to swim the circumference of mainland Great Britain. Ross will swim day and night on a 2,000 mile swim which he aims to complete in 100 days. He will not once step foot onshore until he completes his swim at Tower Bridge, London. A challenge of this scale requires extreme fitness levels as well as precise planning of the nutrition and calories required and Ross certainly has those skills. British GQ describes Ross as "a decorated expert in the fitness industry. For over 10 years he’s been involved in every area of sport, fitness, and nutrition imaginable. He started as an international athlete playing water polo for Great Britain but later moved into the academics of sport and graduated from the world renowned Loughborough University School of Sport and Exercise Science." The Great British Swim is supported by Red Bull and we were approached by them to suggest the most compact and effective tracker to transmit Ross' progress throughout the journey. With excellent UK coverage we recommended the SPOT 3 Tracker which is the smallest, most cost effective personal satellite tracker available. Ross' co-ordinates will be transmitted every 10 minutes by the SPOT tracker and will be used to confirm the completion of the journey and earn Ross his world record.
