Christmas Caribbean Rally uses DeLorme inReach SE to track participants by satellite
A group of eight yachts are using the DeLorme inReach SE as they cross the Atlantic in preparation to arrive in Antigua after Christmas.
The Christmas Caribbean Rally
The Christmas Caribbean Rally (CCR) is an annual sailing rally starting from Lanzarote ending approximately 2-3 weeks later in the Caribbean. This year the yachts set sail on Sunday 14th December and at present, the leading yacht "Raven" has just under 1,374 nautical miles to go until it reaches the lovely English Harbour, Antigua.
DeLorme inReach SE Trackers
The yachts are carrying DeLorme inReach SE trackers transmitting to our www.GTCTrack.com mapping portal. The trackers transmit the location of the participants every 4 hours. This allows friends and family back home to keep track of the yachts! Furthermore, the satellite trackers have an SOS button which acts as an important safety feature for the participants in case of an emergency. In this scenario, the co-ordinates of the vessel are sent to the team at Sailing Rallies to initiate rescue. The two way function of the device allows messages to be sent and received to ascertain more information on the emergency situation.
