What types of assets is SmartOne C suitable for?
SmartOne C is commonly mounted on vehicles, trailers, containers, generators, light plant and remote equipment. It suits assets that have either local power available or space for a small battery-powered tracker.
How is SmartOne C powered?
You can power SmartOne C either from 5 V DC or 8–22 V DC using the regulator cable, or from four AAA 1.5 V lithium batteries. Line power is ideal for permanent installations, while batteries are useful for assets without a power source.
How long will the batteries last?
Battery life depends on your reporting interval and whether the device is using motion-based reporting. With lithium cells and a typical reporting profile, manufacturers indicate 1.5+ years of operation. Shorter intervals or aggressive alert profiles will reduce this.
Is SmartOne C waterproof and rugged enough for outdoor use?
SmartOne C is rated NEMA 4X / IP68 and tested against rugged standards such as MIL-STD-810. This makes it suitable for outdoor deployments on vehicles and fixed assets in harsh environments.
Can SmartOne C connect to external sensors or switches?
Yes. SmartOne C supports dry contact or open/closed sensor inputs, so you can monitor things like door open/close, ignition state or equipment status using the appropriate wiring and configuration.
How do I configure reporting intervals and behaviour?
Use the SmartOne Configuration Software along with a compatible cable to connect the device to your PC. You can then set reporting intervals, motion triggers and other options. The same tool is used for both SmartOne C and SmartOne Solar.

Where is SmartOne Solar best used?
SmartOne Solar is well suited to long-term tracking of remote, hard-to-reach assets such as storage tanks, pipelines, rail wagons, offshore equipment and hazardous-area infrastructure where regular battery changes are not practical.
How does SmartOne Solar get its power?
The device uses a built-in solar panel that charges internal NiMH batteries. As long as it receives a reasonable amount of light, it can operate for many years without manual battery replacement.
Is SmartOne Solar certified for hazardous environments?
Yes. SmartOne Solar has ATEX and IECEx approvals for Zone 0 applications, as well as North American cETLus ratings. This makes it suitable for classified hazardous locations when installed within the scope of the relevant certificates.
Can I connect external power to SmartOne Solar?
SmartOne Solar can be powered from 10 to 48 V DC, although it is not considered intrinsically safe while any cable is connected. For hazardous-area use, always follow the conditions described in the certification documents.
Does SmartOne Solar use the same configuration software as SmartOne C?
