Match My Workout | 106 Marathons in 106 Days Equipped with SPOT Gen4
In February 2022, Fay Cunningham and Emma Petrie set out to become record-breakers by running 106 marathons in as many days. Initially, their target was supposed to be an even 100 marathons, but, three months later, when they reached the 100 marathon mark, they discovered they would have to add a few extra in order to nail on the Guinness World Record for most consecutive marathons run by a female.
Incredibly, Fay and Emma, known collectively as the team from Match My Workout, successfully completed their marathon challenge, which saw them raise tens of thousands of pounds for two charities that are close to their hearts: Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Association and Macmillan Cancer Support.
When Fay and Emma approached GTC seeking a personal satellite tracker that would log their location at regular intervals, we immediately recommended the SPOT Gen4 Satellite Messenger. Chosen for its compact size and reliability, the SPOT Gen4 was able to record the pair’s location every five minutes, allowing people who didn’t live close to see where they were and join in with one of their marathons. This emotional and physical support was all the Match My Workout team needed to get them over the line every day, not least because they were pounding the trails of Aberdeenshire for a total of five or six hours on a daily basis over the course of three months – it’s bound to get tiresome and lonely!
From everyone at GTC, we’re thrilled that the pair managed to conquer this incredible challenge, raising vital funds in the process, and with the help of one of the world’s most reliable satellite trackers. The SPOT Gen4 brings the journey closer to those who can’t be there, and gives that critical peace of mind that the wearer is in the correct location at a given point.
