The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2021
On December 12th, 2021, the island of La Gomera – the second-smallest of the Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa – will play host to the start of the annual Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge where 37 teams (including five solo entrants) will row 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean finishing at Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda.
It’s a unique challenge that pushes people to their absolute limits. Sleep deprivation, 20ft waves, and salt sores are just some of the punishments they face. But being cut off from the wider world and the prolonged isolation are a major feature of an ocean voyage like this.
