Comparing Satellite Hotspot Prices: Iridium GO!, Thuraya SatSleeve, and Thuraya WE Satellite GSM Hotspot

Introduction to Satellite Hotspots: Enhancing Connectivity Anywhere, Anytime

Satellite Wi-Fi hotspots are the ideal solution to achieving internet access in places not usually served by cellular networks, or in places where networks have been destroyed by manmade or natural disasters. Wi-Fi hotspots operate via the world’s leading satellite network providers and can be viewed as your everyday at-home routers; as long as you are within range of the hotspot, you will be able to make voice calls or data connections direct from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop from anywhere in the world. This article aims to present some of the satellite hotspot devices available from OSAT objectively so you can decide what’s best for you.

Iridium GO!® Satellite Wi-Fi Hotspot: Seamless Internet Access on the Move

Taking more of a backseat recently but still a solid hotspot contender is the Iridium GO! satellite Wi-Fi Hotspot. It’s an Iridium-powered device that turns your smartphone into a smart satellite phone, letting you make voice calls, send low-res imagery, and two-way SMS messages from any location in the world, no matter how remote. Simply flip up the integrated antenna and the battery-powered unit will connect quickly and automatically to the Iridium network to create an anywhere Wi-Fi hotspot within a 30.5m radius. Then, through the companion app, you can connect up to five separate devices.

Price: $1,579.00

The new Iridium GO! exec Wi-Fi Hotspot is the ultimate in compact, intuitive, easy-to-use satellite internet access from any location on earth. The GO! exec is a full-colour touchscreen version of the older GO! model, and comes with a raft of much sought-after features including Connection Manager, a feature that helps manage usage with session controls and preconfigured filtering options to avoid bill shock at the end of the month. It also has two high-quality voice lines for multi-user access, a built-in speakerphone, and 24/7 SOS monitoring in case your remote excursion becomes dangerous. The GO! exec also has a stock of integrated messaging apps including WhatsApp, Teams, Outlook, and Gmail, so you can use your everyday smartphone apps from places like the mid-Atlantic or the south pole.

Thuraya SatSleeve Hotspot: Seamless Voice and Data Connectivity

Price: $520.00

With the Thuraya SatSleeve Hotspot, you can enjoy satellite connectivity from your smartphone without actually docking to a unit, giving you freedom to move around. You can leave the SatSleeve stand outside, stay indoors, or in your vehicle, and use your smartphone in satellite mode inside. The SatSleeve is the smallest, lightest, and most capable in the industry. It also comes with an additional safety feature - a programmable SOS button that works even if your smartphone isn't connected. This convenient function allows you to call a predefined number of your choice. The only thing to bear in mind is that Thuraya’s network coverage does not extend to any of the Americas, so we recommend to all of our US customers not to use Thuraya products unless they are travelling to or within EMEA & APAC regions in order to achieve coverage.

Thuraya WE Satellite GSM Hotspot: Versatile Connectivity for Individuals and Small Teams

Price: $1,875.00

The Thuraya WE Satellite GSM Hotspot offers voice and data connectivity no matter how remote your location with the option to connect via satellite or Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). With Thuraya's high speed data service a speed of up to 384 kbps is achievable in satellite mode. However, while this is the first Wi-Fi Hotspot to offer satellite and GSM connectivity, we recommend you use GSM networks to lower costs when available.

With the click of a button, you can use the Thuraya WE mobile app and web interface to choose your network selection. With Thuraya WE, you can transform any area into a Wi-Fi hotspot, and allow up to 10 smart devices to connect and share internet within a range of 100ft or more.
