Inmarsat have launched a unique airtime plan designed to help BGAN users budget for data costs more easily.

The BGAN Standard+ Plan charges a basic Monthly Fee of $71.50 which includes 5MB of usage. If you use over 5MB an additional bundle fee will apply which varies depending on how much data is used - the new feature here is that you do not have to decide upfront on how much data you require as with other plans. The bundle fee will be charged at the end of the month depending on how much data you use.

BGAN Standard+ Example:

Month 1: SIM uses 501MB per month - user pays $71.50 + $1,172.50 = $1,244.00

Month 2: SIM uses 0MB - user pays $71.50 only

BGAN is a high speed data service perfect for individuals requiring connection in remote locations where traditional communication methods are unreliable or non-existent. Equipment is available which can wirelessly connect to a laptop to enable the user to send and receive emails, browse the internet and access VPN networks at speeds of up to 650kbps (model dependent). BGAN terminals can also be used for voice calls with an additional handset accessory.
